AIIMS Bhopal’s Dr. Rishika A receives ICMR PG thesis grant

  • Conducts research on antimicrobial stewardship in surgical care

Bhopal: AIIMS Bhopal celebrates Dr. Rishika A’s ICMR PG Thesis Grant, recognizing her pivotal research on antimicrobial stewardship in surgical care. Under Prof. Ajai Singh’s guidance, Dr. Rishika’s study, “Assessment of surgical antimicrobial prophylaxis (SAP)…,” aims to combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR) by optimizing antimicrobial use in surgery.

Her interventional approach, including training, auditing, and focus group discussions, aligns with ICMR and WHO guidelines, striving to reduce surgical site infections (SSIs). Guided by Dr. Balakrishnan S and Dr. Shilpa N Kaore, with co-guidance from esteemed faculty, the research addresses critical challenges like inappropriate antimicrobial use.

Prof. Singh emphasized the study’s significance in improving healthcare quality and patient safety. Dr. Rishika’s work promises to enhance guideline adherence and sustainable prescribing practices, ultimately advancing patient outcomes. This grant underscores AIIMS Bhopal’s commitment to impactful research and public health advancement.
