AIIMS hosts healthy baby competition

Bhopal: In celebration of World Breastfeeding Week, AIIMS Bhopal, under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh, Executive Director, organized a Healthy Baby Competition at Anganwadi No. 768 and 772, Sai Baba Nagar, Ward No. 49. This impactful event was a collaborative effort with the Community and Family Welfare Department of AIIMS Bhopal and the Urban Primary Health Center, Sai Baba Nagar.

Highlighting the significance of breastfeeding and proper infant care, Prof. Dr. Ajay Singh remarked, “Breastfeeding is an important cornerstone for the health and development of the child. Our aim is not only to encourage healthy practices but also to create a supportive environment for families. The success of this program reflects our commitment to improving public health and strengthening community engagement.”

The competition was divided into two age groups: 0-3 years and 3-6 years. Participants were evaluated based on weight, height, developmental milestones, immunization status, nutrition, and other criteria outlined by the Community and Family Welfare Department, AIIMS Bhopal. The top three children in each category were awarded prizes, while all other participants received appreciation awards.

The event also featured health talks on nutrition and breastfeeding by Professor (Dr.) Arun Kokane, Head of the Community and Family Welfare Department, AIIMS Bhopal, and Dr. Manoj Hurmade, DHO-2 Urban Nodal. Counselors and special guests included Dr. Abhijeet Pakhare, Dr. Ankur Joshi, and Dr. Sanjeev Kumar.

The Healthy Baby Competition was coordinated by Dr. Archit Khardenvis, Senior Resident, Department of Family Welfare, AIIMS Bhopal, and Dr. Abhishek Sen, SDMO, Urban Primary Health Centre, Sai Baba Nagar, with active participation from Junior Residents and Interns of AIIMS Bhopal. The event saw the enthusiastic participation of 50 beneficiaries, including mothers and children.
