Bhopal: The All India Mahila Sanskritik Sangathan (AIMSS) has condemned the rape and gruesome murder of a postgraduate female medical student at RG Kar Medical College Hospital, Kolkata. This unprecedented barbaric act which took place while she was on duty within the ward of a city hospital exposes the alarming safety crisis for women in India, even in workplaces.
AIMSS said we unequivocally denounce the RG Kar Medical College Hospital authority’s clandestine attempt to hush up the rarest of the crime and to preach it primarily as a case of suicide and the state government’s utter callousness of not providing proper safety and security even to the on duty. female doctors and dilly-dallying in apprehending the offender(s).
The Sangathan has demanded immediate arrest and severe exemplary punishment for the culprit(s); adequate safety measures for doctors, medical- nursing students, hospital staff, patients and patient relatives and adequate humanitarian compensation to the family members of the deceased doctor. It has also demanded that the safety and well-being for women and girls nationwide be ensured.
