Prayagraj, Jan 27 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday took a holy dip at the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and invisible Saraswati in Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.
Shah, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy CMs Keshav Prasad Maurya, Brajesh Pathak and saints also took a holy bath.
After bathing, the Union Minister along with his family offered special prayers on the bank of Sangam, presented flowers, coconut and chunri to Ganga Maiya and performed her aarti. Later he left for darshan pujan of Hanuman Ji temple and Akshaya Vat. His son and International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman Jay Shah had reached Prayagraj on Sunday night itself.
Tight security arrangements have been made for the safety of the Union Minister, who will stay in the fair area for more than four hours. During his brief visit, he will have lunch with Swami Avdheshanand Giri Ji Maharaj, Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Juna Akhara and other saints.
Later, he will meet Guru Sharanand Ji Maharaj and Govind Giri Ji Maharaj, Param Pujya Shankaracharya Ji (Sringeri), Param Pujya Shankaracharya Ji (Puri) and Param Pujya Shankaracharya Ji (Dwarka) and take their blessings. Today, there is also a Dharma Sansad in Prayagraj in which many revered saints including Shankaracharya are participating.
Before leaving for Prayagraj from Delhi, Shah wrote on X, “Mahakumbh is a unique symbol of the uninterrupted flow of Sanatan culture. Kumbh reflects our Sanatan philosophy of life based on harmony. Today, in this grand festival of unity and integrity in the religious city of Prayagraj, I am eager to take a bath in the Sangam and take the blessings of the saints.”
