Paris, July 31 (UNI) India’s seasoned archer Tarundeep Rai made an early exit as he went down to Great Britain’s Tom Hall 4-6 in the men’s individual round of 64 at the Les Invalides in the Paris Olympics on Wednesday.
This was Rai’s fourth Olympic appearance, following stints in Athens 2004, London 2012, and Tokyo 2020. Rai, 40, has been a significant figure in Indian archery, notably winning the nation’s first individual medal at the Asian Games with a silver in 2010.
The match began with a tied first set, but Rai found himself on the back foot after Hall, 33, secured victories in the second and fourth sets. Rai managed to clinch two points in the third, but the fifth and decisive set ended in a tie, with both archers scoring two 10s each.
Rai also competed in the men’s team event, where India was defeated 6-2 by Turkiye, who later went on to win the bronze medal.
