Around 200 shuttlers to fight in Jammu District Championship

Jammu, Aug 3 (UNI) Around 200 shuttlers will be contesting in various age categories as the Jammu District Championship took off on Saturday at Badminton Hall of Maulana Azad Stadium here.

The ‘39th Jammu District Badminton Championships’ was declared open on Saturday by the Divisional Sports Officer, Jammu, (J&K Sports Council) Balvinder Pal Singh.

The Championships is being organized by Jammu City and District Badminton Association, under the auspices of Badminton Association of J&K (BAJK), and in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council.

As per the official communiqué, about 200 players from Jammu District, are participating in the tournament in different age categories comprising Mini (U/11) Boys/Girls Singles, Sub Junior (U/13, U/15 and U/17) Boys/ Girls Singles and Doubles, Junior (U/19) Boys/Girls Singles and Doubles and Men/Women Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles.

The championship will conclude on August 14.

Among others Dr. O.D. Sharma, Chairman BAJK, Ashok Singh, Suraj Bhan Singh, Manager, Indoor Complex Jammu, Balbir Jamwal (Gen. Secretary BAJK), Anil Gaind, Vice President IDBA, Pawanjit Singh, Vice President JCDBA, Tosif Ahmed SAl Badminton Coach, Vikram Saini SAl Badminton Coach and Sukhdev Singh, In-charge Police Lines Badminton Hall were present.

The matches are being conducted under the supervision of Rahul Sharma, Chief Referee of the Tournament.
