Belgium & England secure U-17 World Cup spots

Paris, Mar 23 (UNI) Belgium and England have become the first European teams to book their tickets to the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025.

Both nations have secured top spot – with a game to spare – in their respective qualifying groups for the 2025 UEFA European Under-17 Championship and consequently ensured they will be at the newly-expanded global finals, according to a FIFA media release.

Belgium overcame Iceland 2-1 to make it two wins from two in their section, while England edged out Slovenia 3-2 to preserve their 100-per-cent record.

Nathan De Cat was the hero for Belgium, scoring the winner eight minutes from time. England struck their decisive blow even later, with Alejandro Gomes Rodriguez netting in the 84th minute to clinch victory. Those wins mean both sides can no longer be caught in first place in their groups.
