New Delhi, June 21 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Friday granted interim bail to Mahesh Raut, an accused in the Bhima Koregaon violence case of 2018, for two weeks to attend the last rite rituals of his grandmother on June 27.
The vacation bench of JusticeS Vikram Nath and SVN Bhatti granted him interim bail from June 26 to July 10.
Appearing for Raut, Advocate Aparna Bhat submitted that his grandmother died in the last week of May and certain rituals are still to be performed.
Tribal rights activist Raut was charged under Section 15 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 in connection with the caste-based violence of 2018.
He is accused of having links with the banned CPI (Maoist) and waging a war against the country.
