Bhopal Collector appears in High Court following summons

Jabalpur: The Bhopal Collector appeared in the High Court on Tuesday after being personally summoned by two separate single benches. One bench had issued a bailable warrant against the Bhopal Collector, prompting his personal appearance before the court.

In response to the summons from another bench, the Collector submitted a plea for exemption from attendance. However, taking the matter seriously, Justice A.K. Singh, presiding over the bench, directed that the Bhopal Collector must appear in person during the hearing of the petition on March 19.

The petitions were filed in the High Court due to non-compliance with an RRC (Real Estate Regulatory Authority) order issued by RERA, with two separate individuals seeking contempt charges. In the first case, Justice Vivek Agarwal had issued a bailable warrant for the personal appearance of the Collector. In the second case, Justice A.K. Singh also ordered the Collector to be personally present.

On the scheduled date, the Bhopal Collector attended the proceedings via video conferencing before Justice Vivek Agarwal. However, when appearing before Justice A.K. Singh, he requested an exemption from attending in person, citing an official commitment in Delhi.

During the hearing, the advocate for the petitioners informed the bench that the application for exemption was likely made to avoid personal appearance. The bench emphasized that if the Collector fails to comply with the court’s order before the next hearing, he would have to appear in person on March 19.
