Bhopal Crime Branch arrests Ganja smugglers involved in illegal drug trade

In continuation of the instructions of their seniors, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Akhil Patel and Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Crime Shailendra Singh Chauhan, Assistant Commissioner of Police Mukhtar Qureshi, Police Station In-charge Police Station Crime Branch Ashok Marawi and his team were deployed to search for illegal drug smugglers in the city.

A reliable informer came to the police station and informed the Crime Branch team that in Gandhi Nagar Bhopal under the Aero City Road Bridge, a boy who is wearing a black and white checkered shirt and jeans, has a beard on his face, is dark in complexion and has short hair and a woman who is wearing a blue kurta and jeans and a red sky blue dupatta on the kurta, both have a bag and a plastic mat in which there is ganja.

If they are not caught soon, they will sell the ganja to someone and dispose it off. If caught in time, a huge quantity of ganja could be recovered from them. After informing the senior officers as the information was reliable, the police, along with the accompanying staff reached the place mentioned by the informer, i.e., Gandhi Nagar, Bhopal, under the Aero City Road Bridge. There, two persons matching the description given by the informer were surrounded and videographed on mobile and taken into custody with the help of police staff and witnesses.

When their name and addresses were asked, it was found to be Faiz Mohammad, son of Jameel Ahmed, age 21 years, resident of H.N. 17, Gali No. 21, Arif Nagar, Gautam Nagar, Bhopal and Sanjana Thakur, wife of Gujjar Pawar, age 20 years, resident of Village Jamni Tola, Tehsil Suhagpur, District Narmadapuram, M.P.

When the bags and two plastic mat bundles found with the two suspects were opened and checked, a blackish green coloured, leaf-stalk-containing, moist and strong-smelling substance was found inside the bags. When the bundle of plastic mats was opened and checked, two transparent foils were found. When these were opened and checked, a blackish green coloured, leaf-stalk-containing, moist and strong-smelling substance was found in both the transparent foils. When suspect Faiz Mohammad and suspect Sanjana Thakur were asked about the said substance, they said that it was ganja.

A total of 13 kg 300 grams of ganja was recovered from the accused, the total cost of which is Rs. 200000. Since the act of the accused is punishable under Section 8/20 NDPS Act, the crime was registered in the police station crime branch and investigation was taken up.
