Bhopal: Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya and Forest Department, Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal jointly organised a Marathon to spread awareness among the common citizens about the conservation and promotion of wildlife and the need to protect it. Marathon was organized on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on 02 October 2023.
The marathon started from the gate located on Bhadbhada Road of Van Vihar and reached Manav Sangrahalaya beyond Bhadbhada Square, Depot Square, Smart City Tiraha, Tribal Museum Tiraha. The participants reached the Boat Club after covering a distance of about 2 km. The marathon culminated at the entrance gate no. 1 of Van Vihar. The distance of this marathon was 6.5 kilometer in which about 200 participants took part.
People had started arriving at 5.30 am to register for the Run for Wildlife Protection Marathon Race at Van Vihar Gate No. 2, Prempura Ghat, Bhadbhada. The run was flagged off at 7.00 am.
Certificates were given to all the registered participants. In the male category, the first prize was given to Shri Mangal Singh, second to Shri Chandrashekhar Meen, third, Shri Ankit Pal, fourth, Shri Shubham Lowanshi, fifth, Shri Rajendra Parmar. In the female category, the first prize was given to Ms. Krishna Yadav, second to Ms. Smita Maran, third to Ms. Ishwari Markam, fourth, Ms. Madhu Mishra, fifth to Ms. Awarded to Priyanka Toppo. All the participants in the race were given T-shirts and participation certificates.
