Bhopal wakes up to frosty morning

Dense fog drapes several cities; relief from cold in city as Sun shone during daytime

Bhopal: Bhopal, Ratlam, and Vidisha woke up to a tranquil yet frosty morning as dense fog draped these cities on Friday. The fog not only created a picturesque scene but also brought about a noticeable drop in temperature. Shajapur also experienced reduced visibility as it was enveloped in fog, accompanied by brisk and chilly winds sweeping through the region.

In Bhopal fog later cleared and people got relief as Sun shone brightly. Weather experts anticipate that the cold wave will intensify over the next three days, leading to a further decline in both daytime and nighttime temperatures. Currently, Jabalpur, Seoni, and Umaria are among the coldest areas, with daytime temperatures lingering below 20 degrees Celsius. Bhopal and Indore also feel a distinct chill in the air.

Northerly winds contributing to cold conditions

Senior meteorologist H S Pandey clarified that although the impact of the weakened ‘Michaung’ storm has lessened, persistent cloud cover in the state is attributed to increased humidity. The northerly winds are contributing to the heightened cold conditions, causing temperatures to drop even during the night. A shift in weather patterns is anticipated in the state after three days, influenced by a western disturbance.

On Thursday night, Sagar recorded the lowest temperature in Madhya Pradesh, plummeting to 12.2 degrees Celsius. Pachmarhi registered 15 degrees Celsius, while Narmadapuram experienced the highest temperature at 20 degrees Celsius.
