Bhutan King arrives in Gujarat on private visit

Vadodara/New Delhi, July 22 (UNI) The King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay arrived in Gujarat on Monday on a three-day private visit.

They arrived on a direct international flight from Bhutan, and were received by the Gujarat Minister of State Jagdish Vishwakarma at Vadodara airport.

The King and the Prime Minister were welcomed at the airport with cultural displays including traditional Garba dance.

After short stay at the airport, the dignitaries left for the Statue of Unity.

Minister Vishwakarma in a post on X said:

“It is a pleasure to welcome His Majesty, @king_jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk, and His Excellency, Prime Minister @tsheringtobgay of Bhutan, to Gujarat.”

The Bhutan King will halt at the Tent city in Kevadiya.

He will return to Bhutan on July 24 in the late afternoon with a direct flight scheduled for his departure.

The Bhutan King’s visit to Gujarat comes two days after the official visit to Thimphu by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.
