Bihar floods: Kharge asks centre, state to expedite relief and rescue operations

New Delhi, Oct 3 (UNI) Expressing concern over the flood situation in Bihar, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday asked the central and state governments to expedite the relief and rescue operations and provide adequate compensation to the affected people.

On his social media handle X, Kharge also thanked the Indian Air Force, NDRF and SDRF teams for providing assistance during the floods.

“The flood situation in Bihar is becoming terrible. Nearly 15 lakh people in 17 districts are affected by the floods and news of several deaths in the last few days is extremely painful. Bridges have collapsed, the homes destroyed due to the disaster, especially in North Bihar.”

The Congress President said, “We demand from the central and state governments that relief and rescue operations be expedited so that the victims can get immediate help.”

“We thank the Indian Air Force, NDRF and SDRF teams wholeheartedly for the help they are providing in these difficult circumstances. But we still need all possible help from the state government agencies,” the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha said.

He also urged the central government to provide adequate compensation to flood-affected victims and farmers whose crops have been damaged.
