Bihar: IT raids locations of Anshul Homes & Harilal Ventures

Patna, Jan 22 (UNI) In a major drive against tax offenders, Income-Tax department conducted extensive search and survey actions at locations of Anshul Homes Private Limited and Harilal Ventures Private Limited, uncovering significant tax evasion practices.

Sources in IT department said here on Wednesday that raids were carried out at seven premises of Anshul Homes Private Limited, a prominent construction and real estate company in Patna.

The company’s directors and promoters, Rahul Kumar, Vinod Kumar Singh, Bhavna, and Sandesh Kumar, had been at the helm since its incorporation in 2014, sources said.

“Anshul Homes has successfully delivered two major projects, Mannat Enclave and Pearl Enclave, and currently has two ongoing projects, H2O City and 7 Planets, each comprising around 200 flats/units. Despite these substantial projects, it has been discovered that Anshul Homes has evaded taxes and recorded significant bogus purchases in their books. It has been confirmed that the company has been accepting cash for the sales of flats and booking unaccounted expenses in cash,” sources informed.

In another operation, 14 premises of Harilal Ventures Private Limited, a renowned sweet shop brand in Patna, were also raided.

Managed by Amit Mankani, Sandeep Mankani and other family members, Harilal Ventures operates 11 sweet outlets in Patna, Hiralal Hotel, Summit Fine Dine restaurant and an event management business, Sugandh Events.

“With an annual turnover of around Rs 100 crore, the business is found to be involved in tax evasion by falsely claiming tax deducted at source (TDS) and self-assessment details in the IT Returns, resulting in Rs nine crores of unpaid taxes. The company has also taken unsecured loans from parties, recorded bogus creditors, and engaged in related party transactions to reduce net profits, attracting criminal prosecution for these offenses under the Income Tax Act,” sources informed.

“The investigation department is intensifying its actions against those earning but not paying taxes, targeting habitual offenders through these raids. Eleven teams of Cyber Forensic Experts capable of recovering the deleted data are taking backup of accounting data stored in servers, mobile phones, emails and computers,” sources added.
