Patna, Jan 28 (UNI) Soon after Nitish Kumar resigned as Chief Minister of the Grand Alliance government in Bihar, BJP on Sunday extended support to his party JD(U) for forming a new NDA government in the state.
After the BJP legislature party meeting here on Sunday morning amid a highly surcharged political atmosphere, the political affairs in-charge of the party’s state unit Vinod Tawde told newspersons that the meeting adopted a resolution for forming the NDA government in Bihar in Alliance with JDU. He said the new government was being formed in the interest of Bihar and for its overall development.
Tawde said that BJP state president and MLC Samrat Chaudhary has been elected as BJP legislature party leader and MLA Vijay Sinha its deputy leader.
He said senior BJP leader Nandkishor Yadav proposed their names which were seconded by other senior leaders Prem Kumar, Bhagirathi Devi, Janak Ram, Nitin Navin and others. The proposal was unanimously adopted at the meeting.
Tawde said the leader and Deputy leader of NDA would be soon elected in a joint meeting of BJP and JD(U) after which they would call on the Governor at Rajbhavan later in the day.
At a brief press conference held soon after the BJP legislature party meeting, Chaudhary thanked the top party leaders for conferring on him the responsibilities of working in the government and the legislature party leader.
He said the mandate in the 2020 Assembly election against RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s jungle raj and for the development of Bihar would be re-established.
Chaudhari said considering the proposal of JDU leader Nitish Kumar seeking support from the BJP for reestablishing the rule of law as per the 2020 mandate, the BJP decided to support Kumar and form the NDA government.
Chaudhary said in the coming general election, the party would try to win all 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar.
Addressing the media persons. the newly elected Deputy leader of the BJP legislature party Vijay Sinha expressed his gratitude to the party leaders for giving him the major responsibilities and assured he would strive to end jungle rule, corruption and crime in Bihar.
BJP respects the sentiments of people and by honouring their sentiment it has decided to extend support to the JD(U), Sinha said adding that he would try to discharge the responsibilities conferred upon him.
Both Chaudhary and Sinha are expected to take oath as Deputy Chief Ministers in the new NDA government of Bihar.
