- MLA raises concerns over land acquisition
Bhopal, The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Madhya Pradesh has issued a show-cause notice to its own MLA, Chintamani Malviya, from the Alot constituency. The notice was served after Malviya raised concerns during the state legislative assembly’s budget session regarding the land acquisition in the Ujjain Singhsth area. According to the party’s notice, Malviya’s statements and actions have adversely affected the party’s reputation. The MLA has been asked to provide an explanation within seven days. It is reported that the BJP leadership is displeased with Malviya for questioning his own government.
What BJP MLA Malviya Said:
During the budget session, Chintamani Malviya had expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for allocating ?2,000 crore for the Ujjain Singhsth area. However, he pointed out that the farmers of Ujjain are scared and distressed. He explained that in the past, land was temporarily acquired for 3 to 6 months for the Singhsth fair, but now, they have received notices for permanent acquisition of their land.
Questions Raised on ‘Spiritual City’ Concept:
Malviya further questioned the proposal to develop a “Spiritual City” in the region, stating, “I don’t know which official came up with the idea of creating a Spiritual City. Spirituality doesn’t reside in a city; it comes from people who practice sacrifice.” He expressed concern that constructing concrete buildings would not create a true spiritual environment. Malviya raised alarms about the potential for permanent land acquisition in the Singhsth area and warned of possible collaboration between land developers and land mafia, which could hurt the interests of farmers.
This development has created a stir within the party, as Malviya’s comments cast doubt on the government’s policies and plans in the region. The controversy highlights internal tensions and the ongoing debate over land acquisition and development projects in the area.
