Both Houses adjourned till 2 pm after uproar by members

New Delhi, Dec 19 (UNI) Both Houses of Parliament were adjourned till 2 pm on Thursday after uproar by Opposition members over Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on Dr BR Ambedkar for the second day.

As soon as the Lok Sabha met for the day, Opposition members started raising slogans. Amid the ruckus, Speaker Om Birla paid tribute to former minister and member of the House E V KS Elangovan.

After paying tribute, the Speaker adjourned the House till 2 pm.

A similar scene was witnessed in the Rajya Sabha. As soon as the House met, opposition members started raising slogans, forcing Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar to adjourn the House till 2 pm.

Meanwhile, politics over Ambedkar intensified with pushing and shoving between the MPs of the ruling party and the Opposition in the Parliament premises.

Meanwhile, BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi was allegedly hurt during the chaos in the Parliament premises.

Sarangi alleged that he was pushed by Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi, however, denied this, saying that he has no knowledge about it and accused the BJP MPs of stopping him from entering inside the Parliament House.

He said the central issue is that the BJP is attacking the Constitution and is insulting the memory of Ambedkar.
