Breast cancer awareness session held at BSSS

Bhopal: The Department of Psychology, in collaboration with the Women’s Cell and Psycosmos, successfully organized a Breast Cancer Awareness Session at The Bhopal School of Social Sciences (BSSS). The event aimed to promote early detection, self-examination techniques, and overall awareness about breast cancer. The session witnessed the participation of faculty, students, and healthcare professionals.

The program commenced with Rupali Shrivastava, Assistant Professor of Psychology, serving as the Master of Ceremonies. She welcomed the distinguished guests and highlighted the importance of the event in fostering health awareness, particularly ahead of Mental Health Day. The session focused on breaking the stigma around women’s health issues and creating an open platform for discussion.

The audience was addressed by Dr. Ruchira Chaudhary, Chairperson of FPAI (Family Planning Association of India) and Professor at IEHE, who emphasized the need for collaborative efforts in healthcare and education. She applauded the long-standing partnership between FPAI and the Department of Psychology at BSSS, which has led to several initiatives focused on women’s health.

Dr. Anjali Kanhere, Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Chirayu Medical College, delivered the keynote session. Dr. Kanhere’s talk covered essential aspects of breast cancer, such as the importance of early detection through self-examination and regular screenings like mammograms.

The event successfully fostered awareness among students and faculty about breast cancer and the importance of early detection, equipping them with knowledge and practical tools to improve their health and spread awareness within their communities.
