On theme Tourism and Green Investments
Bhopal: The Bhopal School of Social Sciences, Bhopal celebrated World Tourism Day over 3 days. The theme for this year’s celebrations was ‘Tourism and Green Investments’. The event was organized by the World Tourism Day Committee and the Department of Commerce at the college. Several activities and competitions were held highlighting sustainable tourism practices. On the first day, a mock restaurant event “Planets Plates Dining” was held. Students set up an eco-friendly, mock sustainable restaurant.
The second day saw a tourism quiz competition and tourism documentary film screenings. Students participated enthusiastically in the quiz testing their knowledge of travel destinations, cultures, and sustainability practices. Documentaries highlighting green tourism initiatives were also screened. The final day, had the highlight event – an Eco Chic Strut or ramp walk. Students walked the ramp in creative attire made from recycled and upcycled materials, spreading the message of sustainable fashion. Ms. Sustainable was Vagisha Vani and Mr. Aryan Gupta.
The 3-day celebrations concluded with a music performance ‘Dhole Tunes with Desi Twist’ fusing folk and contemporary sounds. The World Tourism Day celebrations educated students on reducing tourism’s carbon footprint through eco-friendly investments and personal lifestyle choices. College principal Dr. fr John PJ commended the efforts put in by the organizing team under the leadership of Dr. Sushma Tirkey and students of Travel and Tourism.
