Bhopal: The BSSS Entrepreneurship Development Cell and Incubation Centre in association with the Department of Commerce, Education and Science organised a thought-provoking and engaging Two Days National Seminar on “Intellectual Property Rights: Issues and Challenges” catalysed and supported by MPCST at The Bhopal School of Social Sciences on Hybrid mode.
Distinguished guests included Dr. N.K Choubey (Sr. Principal Scientist, MPCST), Prof. (Dr.) Ghayur Alam (Head of the Department of IPR & Business Law, NLIU), Mr. D.D. Gajbhiye (Joint Director & HOD, MSME DFO, Indore), Mr. Gaurav Goyal (Assistant Director, MSME, DFO, Indore), and Ms. Moumita Gorai (Assistant Manager, CIPAM, New Delhi).
Mr. D.D Gajbhiye delivered an impactful opening address, emphasizing the pivotal role of intellectual property in fostering innovation. Prof.(Dr.) Ghayur Alam, key note speaker emphasized the paramount importance of acquiring a deep understanding of the vocabulary associated with Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). Dr. Alam stressed that it is crucial for us to delve into the eight types of IPR, comprehending what each type protects. In his address, Dr. Alam underscored the significance of fostering creativity, encompassing both useful and aesthetic aspects. He urged the audience to actively promote critical thinking, recognizing that many of us dwell in a world of second-hand knowledge.
Ms. Moumita Gorai addressed the gathering online, discussing various facets of IPR and giving live examples of innovative products. The dignitaries were honored with mementos, followed by 35 research paper presentations by participants from across India.
Day 2 on 20th January, featured the 3rd track focusing on IP Enforcement and Litigation and Global IPR Landscape where 20 papers were presented. All the tracks had four winners consisting 1st and 2nd Prize for Academicians and students separately.
In the valedictory ceremony Chief Guest- Dr. Sumit Bhattacharya (Faculty National Judicial Academy), Guest of Honour- Prof. (Dr.) Pavan Mishra (Dean Students Welfare, Barkatullah University), were welcomed by the Principal Dr. Fr. John P.J., and Vice-Principal Dr. Sr. Sonia Kurian.
