BSSS host awareness event

  • International Girl Child Day

Bhopal: To mark International Girl Child Day, the Department of Education, in collaboration with the Women’s Cell, organized an exposure visit to Habibganj Government Higher Secondary School, focusing on the theme “Girls’ Vision for the Future”. This theme, highlighted by the United Nations for the 2024 International Girl Child Day, emphasizes empowering girls and envisioning a world with equal opportunities.

The event aimed to engage both boys and girls in discussions around gender equality, creating awareness about the challenges girls face and how to overcome them. Students from the B.Ed program led the session with interactive activities, including song parodies, quizzes, dumb charades, and tongue twisters, creating an environment of fun learning. Prizes were awarded to students who gave correct responses, further motivating participation.

A key event highlight was a series of thought-provoking discussions where students were asked to react to hypothetical scenarios of girls facing humiliation in public spaces. The girls confidently shared bold responses, including taking immediate action against perpetrators. At the same time, the boys expressed their willingness to report such incidents to authorities, reflecting a growing sense of responsibility among both genders.

The event was coordinated under the leadership of Dr. Sheena Thomas, Head of the Department of Education and Women’s Cell in-charge, along with Dr. Daman Deep Kaur and students of the Value-Added Course SAKSHAM.
