Congress MLA from Bhopal Arif Masood has got a setback from Madhya Pradesh High Court. The double bench of High Court Justice Vivek Agarwal has fixed two issues for hearing the petition. The single bench has directed the parties to present the list of their witnesses and fixed the next hearing on 15th January. Challenging the election of Arif Masood, the defeated BJP candidate Dhruv Narayan Singh had filed an election petition in the High Court. It was said that Arif Masood and his wife have a loan from SBI Ashoknagar branch, which he did not mention in his nomination form. As per the Supreme Court’s instructions, the High Court is investigating the loan related documents.
Recovery letter was signed
The bank manager had said in his statement that the entry of loan in the name of Arif Masood and his wife is not in the bank records and the account has been made NPA. The bank manager said that he was misled and made to sign the recovery letter. The bank has not officially issued the recovery letter to the Congress MLA and his wife. An application was filed on behalf of the MLA to stop the hearing on the election petition. While rejecting the application, the single bench had said in its order that the documents are not fake and forged.
