State Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan reached the counting venue on Thursday at the old jail located on Arera Hills in the capital and took stock of the preparations for the counting of votes to be held on December 3.
Counting of votes will take place here for seven assembly constituencies of Bhopal. During this time, the District Election Officer was also with him, who informed him in detail about the arrangements and preparations being made for the counting of votes. Chief Electoral Officer Rajan visited the counting rooms set up assembly wise and took stock of the preparations. Also saw the preparations being made for counting of postal ballots and the security arrangements of the strong room.
He took information about the tables being set up for counting of votes, the number of staff engaged in counting, security arrangements, number of postal ballots etc.
Later he inspected the control room. He also discussed with the representatives of the election candidates staying in the counting venue premises and saw the arrangements related to monitoring of the strong room from the room itself through CCTV. Chief Electoral Officer Rajan seemed satisfied with the vote counting arrangements. During this, he also gave necessary guidelines to the staff engaged in preparations for counting of votes.
Counting of votes will start from 8 am
Chief Electoral Officer Rajan directed that the counting of votes for the Assembly Elections-2023 will begin on December 3 at 8 am with the counting of postal ballots. Counting of votes recorded in EVMs will start from 8.30 am. On the day of counting, ensure that there is continuous supply of electricity and that the counting of votes is not affected due to any reason. All arrangements should be available smoothly at the counting venue. On this occasion, Additional Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma, Nodal Counting Sandeep Kerketta, Deputy DEO Ravi Shankar Rai and other officers were present.
