Christmas celebrated with joy, unity, and brotherhood

Bhopal, The Christian community joyously celebrated Christmas yesterday, embracing the occasion with great enthusiasm and unity. Churches across the city hosted special prayers and festive events to mark the holy day. On Christmas Eve, the solemn Midnight Mass was conducted by Archbishop Durairaj at St. Francis Cathedral in Jahangirabad.

In his sermon, the Archbishop emphasized, “Lord Jesus Christ taught us the values of love, tolerance, and harmony. As part of one interconnected human family, it is our responsibility to serve those in need and care for the environment. Let this sacred occasion inspire us to renew our commitment to these principles.”

Churches adorned

Churches such as Assumption, Lady of Lourdes, Infant Jesus, Holy Family, Queen of the Universe, and St. Joseph were adorned with stunning lights, creating a festive and joyful atmosphere. The celebrations commenced with captivating carol performances by church choirs, spreading messages of hope and happiness through their melodious tunes.

At midnight, devotees expressed their reverence and love by kissing the feet of baby Jesus. The celebrations concluded with the cutting of the Christmas cake, accompanied by priests extending heartfelt greetings with the words, “Happy Christmas!”

On this special day, Fr. Alfred D’Souza, Public Relations Officer of the Catholic Church, conveyed his warm Christmas wishes. He remarked, “The life of Jesus Christ exemplified love, non-violence, and tolerance. His birth serves as a reminder to live by these values and to foster kindness and compassion in the world.”

Special morning Holy Masses were also held on Wednesday in churches, where the faithful prayed for the nation’s peace, prosperity, and progress.
