City forests will be built on lands of closed textile mills

  • Implementation of the project begins in Indore, Ujjain, Bhopal and Burhanpur urban areas

Chronicle Representative, Bhopal: City forests will be built in Indore, Ujjain, Bhopal and Burhanpur district headquarters. For this, the land of the closed mills of National Textile Corporation has been settled again in favor of the state government. The Public Asset Management Department has started work on this project in a planned manner. The department has included this proposal in the action plan for the financial year 2024-25. According to the officials of the department, the National Textile Corporation had filed a petition in the High Court against the vacant barren land of closed mills Indore, Ujjain and Bhopal. By coordinating with the collectors of the concerned districts, the department is taking action to resolve these land cases as soon as possible. Under the District Incentive Scheme, the Public Asset Department has distributed a total of Rs 126 crore 79 lakh as per the proposals received from 20 districts in the financial year 2022-23 and 2023-24 to develop the infrastructure present in the said districts as per the requirement. In the current financial year 2024-25, the department is in the process of receiving development proposals of Rs 65 crore 49 lakh as per eligibility from 16 districts in this scheme.

BSNL land settled in Jabalpur

The Public Assets Department has again settled the acquired land of BSNL in Jabalpur urban area in favor of the state government. Necessary developments will be done here for City Forest. Similarly, a part of United Malwa Mill located in Indore district has been found very suitable to be developed as City Forests. The department is taking action on this development proposal by preparing a plan. Its management will be done by Kalyan Mill Management. Similarly, a plan is being prepared to build Nagar Ban on the remaining lands of Vinod Mill and Hira Mill of Ujjain.
