CM Dr. Mohan Yadav Inaugurates 42nd National Senior Rowing Championship

Bhopal: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav launched the 42nd National Senior Rowing Championship on Monday, held at the scenic Upper Lake in Bhopal. With over 500 athletes participating, the event promises fierce competition and will continue until March 7.

In his address, CM Dr. Yadav celebrated Madhya Pradesh’s impressive performance at the recent National Games, where the state secured third place, with rowing athletes contributing 9 medals. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for the nationwide upliftment of sports and youth talents. “The natural beauty of Bhopal complements this championship, motivating the youth and enhancing the region’s sporting spirit,” Dr. Yadav remarked.

Expanding Sports Infrastructure Across MP

Minister for Cooperation, Sports, and Youth Welfare Vishwas Kailash Sarang highlighted Madhya Pradesh’s growing presence in water sports, revealing that the state’s sports budget has surged from Rs 6 crore to nearly Rs 600 crore. Sarang also announced plans to establish sports complexes in every legislative constituency and further develop 11 sports academies across the state to nurture future athletes.

Championship Highlights

The championship will feature 14 events, including two para rowing competitions. Races will span a 2000-meter distance, with the finals taking place on March 7. Categories include single and double sculls, coxless pairs, and para rowing events, showcasing the diversity of talent in both men’s and women’s competitions.
