CM will open workshop on organic farming today

Bhopal: CM Dr. Mohan Yadav will inaugurate a two-day workshop on organic farming at State Agricultural Extension and Training Center Barkhedi Kalan, Bhopal on February 21 at 10:30 am. Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Shri Edal Singh Kanshana will also be present.

Due to the increasing use of chemical fertilizers, weedicides and pesticides in current farming, the amount of harmful elements in the land and environment is increasing, due to which the environment, soil fertility and human health are getting adversely affected. To protect the environment and consumer health, it is necessary to promote organic farming to discourage the indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in agriculture. The workshop is being organized for this purpose.

In the workshop, there will be a detailed discussion on developing organic farming methods and value chain of products for organic cotton, fruits and vegetables and other crops.

Various crops are being cultivated in a wide area in 11 agro-climatic zones in the state. There are possibilities of natural and organic farming in a wide area from the point of view of environmental protection, soil health, healthy food products and market demand.
