New Delhi, Oct 2 (UNI) State-owned Coal India Limited (CIL) on Monday said that its coal production rose 12.6% year-on-year (YoY) in September 2023 to 51.4 million tonnes (MT).
The coal major’s production had stood at 45.7 MT in September 2022.
The PSU’s coal offtake also rose 12.6% year-on-year in September to 55.1 MT.
Coal offtake refers to the amount of coal supplied from the coal pitheads. It could be higher than production as offtake may include earlier pithead stocks also.
As per a regulatory filing, Coal India’s production in April-September period of current financial year was 332.9 MT as against 299 MT in the corresponding period last year thus registering a growth of 11.3%.
CIL’s coal offtake in the April-September period of the current financial year rose 8.6% to 360.7 MT as compared to 332 MT in the same period a year ago.
