- Period of second extension of Chief Secretary is ending on 30th November
Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal
The period of second extension given to Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh Iqbal Singh Bains is ending on 30th November. Due to the implementation of the Code of Conduct, the Central Government will take guidance from the Election Commission before taking any decision on whether Bains should be given another extension in service or he will be given the charge on the basis of seniority.
The Election Commission will decide who will be the Chief Secretary. If the Chief Secretary is made according to seniority, then 1988 batch IAS Veera Rana can be given the charge. Iqbal Singh Bains of 1985 batch retired in November 2022. He has been given an extension twice for six months each. Since the Code of Conduct is effective, decisions will not be taken without the guidance of the Commission. Ministry sources say that a proposal has been sent to the Central Government informing about the situation regarding the Chief Secretary. According to the information, a decision regarding the Chief Secretary can be taken this week. Even if Bains is given extension, it will be for one month because the 16th Assembly will be constituted in the first fortnight of December. Before this, the oath of office of Chief Minister will also be taken.
Charge can also be given
According to ministry sources, the new government will appoint the Chief Secretary as per its own, hence for the time being the work can be carried out by giving the charge. In the list that will be prepared in this situation, Veera Rana of 1988 batch posted in Madhya Pradesh is at the first place. After this the name of Mohammad Suleman of 1989 batch and then Vinod Kumar comes. However, information is also coming to light that the senior IAS of MP cadre posted in Delhi can also be made the Chief Secretary.
