Cong condoles death of students at coaching centre; demands action against culprits

New Delhi, July 28 (UNI) The Congress on Sunday condoled the death of three girl students of a coaching institute in Rajinder Nagar here due to waterlogging and demanded that responsibility be fixed and the culprits punished.

Taking to his social media handle X, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge while expressing deepest condolences to the families said, “It is very sad that three young people lost their lives due to waterlogging in the basement of an IAS coaching centre in Delhi due to criminal negligence of the government and administration.”

“Earlier, another UPSC aspirant died due to electric shock caused by waterlogging in Patel Nagar. According to reports, eight people have died due to electric shock in the last few days,” Kharge said.

He said that the Congress had made Delhi an international city and that today that same city was suffering the brunt of indifference.

Kharge further said that the national capital’s infrastructure needs to be improved so that people living here and those coming from outside remain safe.

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi termed the incident as ‘unfortunate’ and said, “This collapse of infrastructure is a collective failure of the system”.

“The common citizen is paying the price of unsafe construction, poor town planning and irresponsibility of institutions at every level by losing his life, Safe and comfortable life is the right of every citizen and the responsibility of the governments,” Gandhi said.

On Saturday, three UPSC aspirants died due to drowning in a water-flooded basement in Old Rajinder Nagar.
