Srinagar, Dec 18 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) staged a protest in Srinagar on Wednesday, raising serious concern over the Central Government’s handling of the Adani issue and the ongoing crisis in Manipur.
The protest, which took place at the Congress headquarters on MA Road, was thwarted by police, who prevented party workers and leaders from marching towards the Raj Bhavan.
Despite being confined to their headquarters, the Congress leaders criticized the BJP-led Central Government for its alleged involvement in “mega corruption scandals” and mishandling of critical issues.
The protesters called for accountability over the alleged Adani “corruption scandal” and expressed strong disapproval of the deteriorating law and order situation in Manipur.
They also condemned recent remarks made by the Home Minister regarding Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, describing them as a direct challenge to the principles enshrined in the Indian Constitution.
The protestors highlighted allegations of corruption involving the Adani Group, including reported irregularities in projects under the Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited (JKPDCL). They accused the Central Government of prioritizing corporate interests at the expense of public welfare and demanded the immediate formation of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to investigate the allegations against the Adani Group.
“The Adani Group’s involvement in various scams, including irregularities in JKPDCL projects, is a glaring example of the crony capitalism fostered by this government. The people of Jammu and Kashmir demand answers,” said Abid Kashmiri, a Congress leader “We firmly demand a JPC probe to uncover the truth and hold those accountable.”
