Four assembly constituencies Sehore, Ashta, Ichhawar and Budhni come in Sehore district adjacent to the capital. In these four assembly seats of the district, 9 lakh 80 thousand 389 voters will cast their vote in the coming assembly elections.

Today, we are talking about Sehore assembly seat, there are 2 lakh 15 thousand 374 voters in this assembly seat. In which the number of male voters is one lakh 10 thousand 593, while the number of female voters is one lakh 5 thousand 375. There are 265 polling stations in Sehore assembly constituency, out of which 8 new polling stations have been set up. Now is the time for assembly elections. But many contenders of both the major parties are expressing their candidature. On the other hand, BSP is also beating the beat. Similarly, the candidates of AAP party are also not far behind. In this way, a quadrangular clash is possible on the Sehore assembly seat. Electoral activities have intensified in Sehore assembly constituency. Recently, by calling a worker’s conference in Sehore, the BJP has blown the election campaign. State government minister Vishwas Sarang, while addressing the workers, instructed them to win all the four assembly seats in the district. Forgetting the differences, the workers should unite from now on. Giving tickets is the work of the high command, whoever gets the ticket, we have to make the BJP candidate victorious with unity.

Congress could win the election on Sehore assembly seat only once – If we talk about Sehore assembly constituency, then in 1985 assembly elections were held, then Shankarlal Sabu of Congress had elected the winner on Sehore assembly seat. At that time Sabu was decorated with the title of militant MLA by the Union Minister Balram Jakhar. Sabu had done many welfare development works during his tenure. After this, Sehore could not get such a fighting MLA till now. Who has given a new direction to the development of Sehore. But unfortunately in the 1990 assembly elections Sabu’s deposit was forfeited. Since then till now Congress has not been able to win the election from Sehore assembly seat. The truth is that in the general election of 1972, he won from here as a Congress candidate, but at that time the Ichhawar assembly seat did not come into existence. In 1977, when the Ichhawar Assembly Constituency was formed separately and the present Sehore Assembly seat came into existence, Janata Party candidate Savita Vajpayee defeated Congress candidate Aziz Qureshi by contesting the election with the symbol of Plow-Farmer. After that, in the midterm elections of 1980, the Bharatiya Janata Party emerged and BJP candidate Sundarlal Patwa, former chief minister, defeated Congress’s Amarchand Rohilla by a small margin. In the 1980 elections, Ramesh Saxena of the Congress rebelled against the party and contested the elections with the bow and arrow symbol, and the Congress had to bear the brunt of it and the BJP candidate Madanlal Tyagi won the election, It was said then that is, it was the Congress that defeated the Congress. This phrase also worked well.

After the demolition of the Babri Masjid structure in 1992, the Sunderlal Patwa government of the state was dismissed and once again midterm elections were held in 1993 and independent Ramesh Saxena contested again and won a big victory with the election symbol of shield-sword and Madanlal Tyagi of BJP and Rukmani Rohila of Congress both had to face defeat in this assembly election. In the assembly elections of 1998, independent MLA Ramesh Saxena again entered the fray after getting a ticket as a BJP candidate and reached the assembly again after defeating Congress candidate Jaspal Arora. Similarly, in 2003 and 2008, Ramesh Saxena of BJP won by defeating Surendra Singh Thakur and Sudesh Rai of Congress.

In the 2013 election, Ramesh Saxena’s wife Usha Saxena got the ticket from BJP, then the Congress fielded a lighter candidate Harish Rathore in front of her. But at that time, after rebelling from the Congress, Sudesh Rai contested as an independent and entered the assembly. In 2018, Sudesh Rai, an independent, joined the BJP and stood tall as a BJP candidate, in this election he defeated Surendra Singh Thakur of the Congress, Usha Saxena and Sunny Mahajan, an independent respectively, in a quadrangular contest and became the MLA. In this way, Congress has been searching for the possibilities of its victory for 28 years. Congress candidate has faced defeat not once but three times due to wrong distribution of Congress ticket. At present, both the parties will be forced to think that they should find a winning candidate.
