Congress releases manifesto for Haryana assembly polls

New Delhi, Sep 18 (UNI) The Congress on Wednesday announced a slew of promises including caste survey, legal guarantee of MSP and 300 units of free electricity in its manifesto for the Haryana assembly election.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge released the party’s manifesto in the presence of senior party leader KC Venugopal, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and others.

Addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters here, Kharge said, “Haryana was a prosperous state and was considered number one in India, but BJP ruined it. But this time the public is with us and will vote the Congress to power.”

He said that the state was suffering due to corruption and issues like unemployment, deteriorating law and order and anarchy was hindering the progress of the state.

The Congress President said, “Our manifesto speaks about seven promises for the people of Haryana and we will definitely fulfill them if voted to power”.

The leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha said that if voted to power, the Congress government will build a memorial in Haryana in memory of the farmers martyred in the farmers’ movement and will also provide jobs to their children.

He said that the Congress party promises women of Rs 2000 per month and gas cylinder at Rs 500.

“Congress also promises old age pension of Rs 6000, disability pension of Rs 6000, widow pension of Rs 6000 and restoring the old pension scheme”.

The party has also promised 300 units of free electricity and free treatment upto Rs 25 lakh, besides holding caste census.

For the farmers, the party has promised legal guarantee of MSP and immediate crop compensation.
