- Names of claimants sought in a closed envelope from the district head and in-charge
Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal
The preparations of the Congress have intensified for the assembly elections to be held in the state at the end of the year. Congress is preparing to declare tickets for more than 100 seats in the second week of September.
For this the process has been expedited. Madhya Pradesh’s In-charge General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala and Screening Committee Chairman Bhanwar Jitendra Singh have asked 63 district in-charges and district heads of the state to submit names of contenders from each assembly in a sealed envelope. Also, the names of the candidates for 230 assembly seats have been sought from the Chairman of the Election Committee, Kamal Nath. The special thing is that the caste and sub-caste of the claimants have also been asked in the closed envelope.
Three survey reports are the main basis of the ticket – According to a party functionary, Kamal Nath does not want to take risk in the selection of candidates. This is the reason that by cutting the tickets of more than 20 MLAs, there is a preparation to field a new face. The MLAs whose report in the initial survey was not good, were instructed to improve their performance by being active in the area. MLAs whose performance did not improve in the subsequent two surveys will not be given tickets.
The first list will come after brainstorming on internal survey-feedback- Sources say that the first list of candidates will be released only after brainstorming in the meeting of the screening committee on internal survey and feedback of the party.
For this, a meeting will be held in Bhopal on September 2 in the presence of state in-charge Randeep Surjewala and Jitendra Singh. In such a situation, it is expected that if there is no protest regarding the selection of candidates, then the first list of names for about 100 seats will be released between 10 and 15 September.
In this list, candidature is expected to be announced on those 66 seats, where Congress is losing for five consecutive times. Congress has considered these seats very weak.
