Congress will review poll results in three states : Akhilesh

Patna, Dec 3 (UNI) Congress on Sunday said that poll results in three states– Chhatisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, were not in accordance with its expectation and party would review it soon.

President of Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) Akhilesh Prasad Singh told media persons here that his party was expecting to retain power in Rajasthan and Chhatisgarh and make a comeback in Madhya Pradesh.

Results of Rajasthan and Chhatisgarh were very surprising for the party as even survey of agencies did not project such outcome, he added.

“No one was talking against Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in Rajasthan but losing power there is an issue of serious discussion for the party to find out reasons,” Singh said adding if needed, there could be some changes in organisational structure.

“It is natural for us to review results of assembly elections in three states–Rajasthan, Chhatisgarh and Madhya Pradesh,” Congress leader said adding that INDIA, the opposition alliance, would defeat Narendra Modi government in 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

There was no difference among constituents of INDIA, he claimed.

“BJP is much stronger than any regional party in Chhatisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan,” Singh said adding that his party always gave full respect to regional parties in states.

In Bihar, Congress was part of the Grand Alliance government but it was headed by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of JD(U), he pointed out.

Congress leader refused to reply to a query of media persons about JD(U) leader and Finance Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary describing the results as “positive”, saying he should be asked what he meant.

There was nothing “positive” or “negative” in results, in his views, he remarked.
