- Viral fever causing havoc
Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal,
These days, there is an outbreak of viral fever in the capital Bhopal. Due to this, a large number of patients are reaching the hospitals. Crowd of patients is being seen in AIIMS Bhopal. There is a situation of jostling for tokens and prescriptions. Patients have to wait for hours for treatment. Most of the patients coming here are said to be suffering from viral fever, dengue, cough, sore throat.
According to doctors, the number of viral fever patients has increased rapidly in the last few days. Symptoms of viral fever were seen in most of the patients. Patients are having a maximum fever of 102 Fahrenheit, severe cough and difficulty in swallowing due to sore throat, pain in legs, waist, neck and muscles. Viral fever patients have started increasing once again in the rainy season in AIIMS, JP and Hamidia hospitals of the capital Bhopal. Due to rain, strong sunlight, humidity and then sudden cold, the risk of viral fever or common cold is increasing rapidly. Oxygen level of patients is decreasing. Lungs are getting infected up to 30%. Fever is not going away for 10 days. 40 percent of patients coming with complaints of breathing problems are found to be suffering from viral pneumonia. The increasing number of patients has put the health department in worry. However, hospitals are making preparations on their own to deal with this situation. All kinds of health kits including medicines are available in hospitals. Doctors say that people are not able to sleep properly. Children are becoming irritable. Patients are getting worse due to taking syrups without any reason and overdose of medicines. There are two types of cough syrups, one to stop cough and the other to increase cough. Those who have phlegm are given cough-inducing syrup, due to which the phlegm melts and comes out and then the patient starts getting relief. Those who do not have phlegm are prescribed cough-inducing syrup. Many times the patient worsens the disease by consuming the wrong syrup. Patients take any syrup of their own accord and worsen their condition. A large number of patients are reaching AIIMS every day, every day hundreds of patients are seen standing in line, sitting and lying on resting chairs just to wait for the token.
