Defence Minister visits Vietnamese Embassy to pay tribute on Nguyen Phu Trong’s death

New Delhi, July 26 (UNI) Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday went to the Vietnamese Embassy in Delhi to pay heartfelt tribute on the passing away of senior Vietnamese leader Nguyen Phu Trong.

In a post on X, the Defence Minister said that India stands with the people and leadership of Vietnam in this time of grief.

“Went to the Vietnamese Embassy in New Delhi today. Paid heartfelt tribute on behalf of the Government and people of India to H.E. Mr Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the VietNam.

“In this hour of grief, India stands with the bereaved family, the people and leadership of Vietnam.”

Nguyen Phu Trong, general secretary of Vietnam’s ruling Communist Party, died on July 19 at the age of 80.

National Security Advisor Doval attended the state funeral of Trong in Hanoi on Thursday and conveyed India’s condolences personally to the Vietnamese leadership.
