New Delhi, Aug 23 (UNI) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi Minister Atishi on Friday said that the Delhi government has transferred 5 months of pension payments to the accounts of 90,000 elderly residents, which had been withheld by the BJP-led central government.
The remaining 10,000 pensions will be credited to the accounts of elderly residents today, Atishi said.
Addressing the media, Atishi claimed, “For the past 5 months, these one lakh elderly residents were not receiving their pension because the portion of the pension that comes from the central government was being withheld by the BJP-led central government.”
“Four lakh elderly residents of Delhi receive old-age pension. Out of these, one lakh pensions have a portion that comes from the Delhi government and a portion from the central government,” She alleged.
“It is the result of the love and blessings of the elderly residents of Delhi that despite being in jail, their son Arvind Kejriwal Ji fought against the BJP-led central government and ensured that these one lakh elderly residents received their pension,” Atishi said.
Congratulating one lakh elderly residents, Atishi said, “Since yesterday, the Social Welfare Department of Delhi has begun transferring these pensions to the accounts of the elderly residents. As of yesterday, around 90,000 pensions have been transferred, and the remaining 10,000 pensions will be transferred to the bank accounts of the elderly residents of Delhi today.”
“The BJP has only one job, to harass the people of Delhi, to stop their work, and in this sequence, the pension of the elderly was stopped. But on behalf of Arvind Kejriwal and the Kejriwal government, I promise the people of Delhi that no matter how much we have to fight, we will continue to get the work of Delhi residents done,” Atishi added.
“Just as we fought against the BJP-led central government to provide the elderly with their pension, we will fight to get all pending work done for Delhi residents,” she said.
