- Risk of dengue increases in rainy season
Kavita Singh Rathore, Bhopal
The risk of typhoid and dengue increases during the rainy season. Dengue cases have been coming to the fore in the capital for some time now.
Looking at the speed at which these cases are increasing, it seems the number of dengue patients will increase even more. So far, 67 cases have been reported from Bhopal alone. This figure is being told only till June-July. According to data released by the medical department, over the same period, 53 cases were registered in 2019. If we compare that year and this year, then now after four years i.e. 2024, the danger is again seen increasing rapidly. This year, 56 cases had been reported to June. However, the malaria department has made preparations for this. Surveys and awareness programs are going to start in the city. Not only this, people are being made aware to not allow water logging and to not let water accumulate in pots and coolers.
According to the medical department, dengue cases in Bhopal come up in a set pattern every year and then suddenly start increasing. Due to this pattern, the most caution is required in September, October and November. Let us remind you, during these three months only, 1,641 cases were registered in 2019, 16 in 2020 i.e. Corona period, 665 in 2021, 540 in 2022 and 655 in 2023. It is estimated by the medical department that in 2024 dengue cases will increase even more because these three main months are still left and so far 67 cases have been registered.
The malaria department says dengue cases increase rapidly after August 15.
Prevention of Dengue
To prevent dengue, do not allow rain water to collect in any object kept in the house. Use only clean water for drinking. Do not allow water to remain in coolers and other utensils kept in the house for many days. Keep the tanks, cisterns and nearby drains clean. Always keep water covered, because dengue mosquitoes breed in clean water as well. During the rainy season, leave the house wearing fully sleeved clothing. While sleeping, use a mosquito net or mosquito repellent spray or cream to repel mosquitoes.
