Paris, (UNI) Indian golfer Diksha Dagar is set to compete at the Paris 2024 Olympics despite a recent car accident that left her mother hospitalised.
The Dagar family, including Diksha, her father and caddie Col Naren Dagar, mother, and brother, were involved in a car accident on Tuesday night. The incident occurred as they were returning from an event at the India House.
Reports indicate that another vehicle collided with their car at an intersection. While Diksha emerged unscathed, her mother suffered a suspected spinal injury and is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital. This was revealed by Col Dagar speaking to a section of media.
Despite the unfortunate incident, Diksha remains focused on her upcoming competition. A two-time winner on the Ladies’ European Tour and a former Deaflympics champion, Diksha made her Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020, where she finished tied for 50th.
Now, at 23, she is preparing for her second Olympic appearance, set to compete in the women’s golf event at the prestigious Le Golf National in Guyancourt from August 7 to 10.
In other news, the men’s golf competition at Paris 2024 has already commenced, with Indian golfers Shubhankar Sharma and Gaganjeet Bhullar representing the nation. The country eagerly anticipates the performance of all its athletes, hoping for a strong showing at the Games. UNI BDN SSP
