Chennai, Dec (UNI) In a must win situation after yesterday’s loss, reigning champion Ding Liren of China stormed back into contention with a win over Indian Challenger D Gukesh in the 12th Round of the FIDE World Chess Championship at Singapore on Monday evening.
Both the players are tied 6-6 with two rounds remaining in th 14-game Classical Chess contest.
With today’s win, Liren has boosted his chances of retaining the World Crown.
But the contest is tantalisingly poised and both of them could fancy their chances for the title.
The 12 round so far witnessed two wins each for Gukesh and Liren and 8 draws.
