Doctor Rape-Murder: Calcutta HC advocates hold massive protest march

Kolkata, Aug 19 (UNI) A massive protest march was held by the Advocates of Calcutta High Court on Monday, demanding justice in the rape and murder of a 31-year-old lady doctor at the premises of state-owned RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9, official sources said.

“Time has come to combat strongly lawlessness prevailing across West Bengal,”a senior advocate participating in the protest march said.

“As a Bengali I feel ashamed and it is a shame for all and for the whole Bengali community,” he told reporters.

Senior Barristers, senior advocates and their assistants wearing white shirts, black coats, black tie around the neck moved around the Calcutta High court in which the women lawyers were at the front in the silent march.

The medics, both senior and juniors wearing Rakhi also marched through the streets from the Calcutta Medical College and Hospital in central Kolkata.

Meanwhile, the ousted principal Sandip Ghosh again appeared before the CBI officials at the CGO for the 4th day today as he was already quizzed for nearly 40 hours in the past three days.

Ghosh said he had submitted all the documents to the CBI.
