Gorakhpur, (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday directed that the doctors posted at Community Health Centers (CHCs) and Primary Health Centers (PHCs) should stay at their stations during night hours and the patients should not face any inconvenience in getting treatment.
The CM directed that the officials from the administration and Health department should monitor the night shifts of doctors at their assigned locations and report to the government. “Ensuring public health is a top priority of the government and any form of negligence in this matter will not be tolerated,” he said.
He issued the directives while reviewing the status of preventive measures and healthcare facilities for communicable diseases, including Japanese encephalitis (JE) and Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES), in the Gorakhpur-Basti region via video conferencing at circuit house.
During the video conference, public representatives from Gorakhpur, along with officials from the administration and Health department, were physically present, while the officials from the remaining six districts participated virtually.
Yogi praised various departments, including the Health department, for their efforts in controlling JE and AES. He said that commendable work has been done in this direction over the past five to six years under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said, “There has been a reduction of over 98 percent in cases of JE and AES, which has brought the mortality rate close to zero.”
The CM assured that complete eradication of these diseases will be achieved very soon. He emphasised the need for continuous inter-departmental coordination to maintain control over JE and AEs and ensure consistent progress in this direction.
During the video conference, he said that consistent vigilance is crucial for other communicable diseases like dengue, chikungunya and others. He directed that to prevent the spread of these diseases, awareness campaigns should be created by involving ASHA workers to educate people and swift healthcare facilities should be provided to patients in case of illness.
Yogi said that monitoring of the 102 and 108 ambulance services is necessary to ensure easy transportation of patients to hospitals. He also reviewed the ongoing tuberculosis and filariasis control campaigns and emphasised the need to enhance awareness.
Discussing the spread of dengue in the state, he urged all the District Magistrates and the Chief Medical Officers (CMO) to remain in touch with all blood banks, making sure that there is no shortage of platelets in any situation. He asserted that if any complaints of black-marketing of platelets arise from a blood bank, strict legal action should be taken.
The CM appealed to the public representatives to propose the enhancement of CHC-PHC facilities in their respective areas. Responding to the demand from the Member of Parliament from Domariyaganj, he announced a plan to upgrade the Bansi CHC-PHC and establish a 100-bed hospital there.
In response to concern expressed over shortage of doctors in CHC-PHC areas, he suggested that wherever there is a shortage of doctors, doctors should be deployed by the DM and the CMO on contractual basis.
Yogi emphasised that under no circumstances should the availability of healthcare facilities be negatively impacted. He also mentioned that wherever new health centers have been constructed, they should be operationalised fast with necessary resources and staff.
Some representatives also raised issues related to electricity supply during the video conferencing. In response, the CM mentioned that since there is surplus electricity in the state, there should not be any problems with supply. He directed the Commissioner and DM to monitor the electricity supply and provide reports accordingly.
