Bhopal: Under the auspices of Madhya Pradesh Government, Madhya Pradesh Civil Service Chess Selection Competition was organized at IPS Academy Indore for the session 2023-24 from November 19, 2023. The chief guest of this competition was Indore’s architect and president of IPS Academy, Mr. Achal Choudhary and chief guest was Dewas Collector Mr. Rishabh Gupta and special guest was Police Commissioner Mr. Makrand Devsar Deuskar.
The competition was started by both the senior officers playing chess moves. A total of 44 players, including 12 internationally rated players, participated in this six-round chess competition, out of which 14 were women. In this chess competition, by scoring five points in six rounds, Dr. B.K. Chaurasia, an internationally rated chess player and senior national judge, law professor of the Higher Education Department, got the first position. Dr. B.K. Chaurasia was also the first seeded player of the competition. Dr. BK Chaurasia also has the privilege of becoming the state champion for the maximum number of times in Madhya Pradesh Civil Service Chess.
The active participation and excellent game of Police Commissioner Mr. Makrand Devskar and Indore’s IAS officer Additional Commissioner Mr. Siddharth Jain in the entire competition became a topic of discussion among all the players. He also ensured his place in the team through his excellent play. This is the first time that so many senior players have participated in the Civil Services Chess Competition. Besides, this competition will always be remembered for its high quality organization, organization and excellence. All the players have highly appreciated the entire system. In the men’s category, Mr. Shikhar Verma of Katni, Mr. Deepak Chivande of Bhopal, Police Commissioner Mr. Makrand Devsar, Mr. Raju Singh Shilpi and Additional Commissioner Mr. Siddharth Jain also ensured their place in the team. Padmaja Naidu got the first position in the women’s category.
Madhya Pradesh’s top chess player International Master and convener of Madhya Pradesh Chess Association Adhoc Committee Mr. Akshat Khamaria, Vice Chancellor Dr. Sunil Somani and Indore Chess Association Secretary Chess Mr. Anil Fatehchandani were specially included in the organizing board of this competition. At the conclusion of the competition, the prize distribution took place under the chairmanship of Mr. Achal Choudhary and the chief hospitality of Police Commissioner Mr. Makrand Devskar. All the players selected in the men’s and women’s categories as well as the colleagues who helped in organizing the event were also honoured. Police Commissioner Shri Makrand Devsar was specially honored on this occasion. It is noteworthy that in the chess competition to be held in South Goa from February 20 to February 28, 2024, selected 6 male and 6 female players will represent Madhya Pradesh. The main judge of the competition was FIDE Arbiter Kumari Aditi Srivastava of Bhopal. At the conclusion of the program, vote of thanks was given by Professor Vice Chancellor Dr. Sunil Somani. On the achievement of Dr. Brijesh Kumar Chaurasia, Bhopal Division’s Additional Director Higher Education, chess player Dr. Mathura Prasad, college Principal Dr. Roma Mukherjee, along with prominent players of the Higher Education Department and the college family have expressed happiness by extending hearty congratulations.
