EAM, Greek FM hold talks, discuss IMEC, India-Mediterranean connect

New Delhi, (UNI) External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday held talks with the visiting Foreign Minister of Greece George Gerapetritis during which they discussed the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC) and India-Mediterranean connect.

In a post on X, EAM Jaishankar said the two sides also focused on shipping, trade & investment, connectivity, mobility, AI and cultural ties.

“Delighted to meet my friend FM George Gerapetritis of Greece this evening in Delhi.

“Held a very productive conversation on advancing our multifaceted relations, focusing on shipping, trade & investment, connectivity, mobility, AI and cultural ties.

“Also discussed IMEC and India-Mediterranean connect, which will be a major focus of the next phase of our relations.

“Appreciate his perspectives on the recent developments in the region.

“Assured India’s fullest support to Greece for its non-permanent membership of the UNSC for 2025-26.”

According to the Greek Foreign Ministry “during the expanded talks, FM George Gerapetritis and EAM Jaishankar “discussed ways of enhancing bilateral ties, with focus on trade, shipping and investment. Both pledged closer collaboration during Greece’s term in the UNSC.

“The Greek FM highlighted the geostrategic importance of IMEEC project and the role of Greece as a natural doorstep to Europe.

“On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Greece-India diplomatic relations, the two FMs agreed to promote people-to-people diplomacy via education, culture, and tourism. The Greek FM reaffirmed Greece’s intention to open two new Consulates in Mumbai and Bangalore,” it said on X.
