Earthquake in Tibet: Death toll rises to 95, 130 injured

Beijing, Jan 7 (UNI) The death toll from the magnitude 6.8 earthquake in the Tibet Autonomous Region in southwestern Chine has increased to 95, with 130 people injured, the China Central Television reported on Tuesday, citing local authorities.

The earthquake occurred on Tuesday morning in Dingri County in the city of Xigaze, with its epicenter located 6 miles below the surface. Close to 7,000 people reside in the 7.5-mile radius of the epicenter. Seismologists have so far recorded 49 aftershocks.
