Srinagar, Sep 16 (UNI) National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Monday alleged that the strings of Member of Parliament Abdul Rashid Sheikh, popularly known as Engineer Rashid, are connected somewhere else and he gets the signal from somewhere else.
Omar said this a day after the banned Jamaat-e-Islam,i which fielded several members as Independent candidates, and Rashid’s Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) stitched a strategic alliance for the upcoming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
Omar hit out at Engineer saying they have fielded candidates to target the National Conference.
“His strings are connected somewhere else. He gets the signal from somewhere else. They dance on that signal. It is obvious that they have been fielded to target the National Conference. There is no problem, we can face it,” Omar told reporters in south Kashmir Pulwama on Monday.
Prime Minister Modi is visiting Kashmir on September 19 to address an election rally in Srinagar.
Omar also hit out at the BJP-led Central government saying that they have nothing to offer to Kashmiris.
The former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister also dismissed questions that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah often raise about “dynasty rule” in Kashmir parties.
“They have nothing else to sell before the people of Jammu and Kashmir”, Omar told.
Omar alleged that the Centre has provided nothing during the past five to ten years to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and they have nothing to say except dynasty rule.
“If the central government had provided anything to the people of Jammu and Kashmir they would then issue their report card,” he said.
