Eurosport India Taps Cricket Icon Shikhar Dhawan as MotoGP Ambassador

Mumbai, July 18 (UNI) Eurosport India has announced Indian cricket icon Shikhar Dhawan as the brand ambassador for MotoGP in India.

The partnership aims to boost the popularity of motorcycle racing in the country through a new campaign titled “Face Kar Race Kar.”

Dhawan, known for his prowess on the cricket field, expressed enthusiasm about his new role. “Partnering with the prestigious MotoGP as its India Ambassador is a remarkable honour,” he said. The cricketer drew parallels between his journey in cricket and his newfound connection with motorsports, reminiscing about riding bikes in his hometown of Delhi.

The announcement comes as part of Eurosport India’s efforts to expand MotoGP’s reach in the country. Arjun Nohwar, General Manager – South Asia, Warner Bros. Discovery, stated, “His infectious energy and wide appeal will not only resonate with racing enthusiasts but also introduce MotoGP to sports fans in a compelling way.”

In a related development, Yamaha has been onboarded as the title sponsor for MotoGP in India. Vijay Kaul, General Manager, Marketing Strategy Division, Yamaha India, expressed excitement about reviving their partnership with Eurosport India and promoting MotoGP across the country.

The 2024 MotoGP season is currently underway, with Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati Lenovo Team leading the standings by a narrow margin. The season will conclude with the BritishGP at Silverstone in early August.

Eurosport India has also extended its broadcasting rights for MotoGP in India for three years, reinforcing its commitment to delivering world-class sports content to Indian audiences. The channel’s portfolio includes various sports such as motorsports, golf, cycling, pro wrestling, table tennis, and marathon.

This partnership is expected to significantly boost MotoGP’s popularity in India, leveraging Dhawan’s wide appeal and Eurosport’s established platform to bring the excitement of motorcycle racing to a broader audience.
