Ex-Delhi minister, AAP leader Rajendra Pal Gautam joins Congress

New Delhi, Sep 6 (UNI) Aam Aadmi leader (AAP) leader and former Delhi minister Rajendra Pal Gautam on Friday joined the Congress here, claiming he wants to accelerate the struggle for social justice.

Gautam had quit the Delhi Cabinet in 2022 following his his alleged remarks against Hindu gods and goddesses.

Gautam joined the Congress in the presence of Congress general secretary K C Venugopal, spokesperson Pawan Khera and Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav.

Welcoming Gautam into the party fold Venugopal said, “It’s a proud moment for us as Shri Rajendra Pal Gautam joins the Congress party. The Bharat Jodo Yatra and Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra have given a new narrative to the country, and now the country is also accepting it with full might. Attracted by the Congress programs under the leadership of Shri Mallikarjun Kharge and Shri Rahul Gandhi, he has decided to join the INC”.

After joining the party, Gautam thanked Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.

“At a time when incidents of hatred on the basis of religion and caste are on the rise, Dalits, backward castes and minorities are being targeted, Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra gave a slogan and that slogan really inspired me and touched my heart,” Gautam said.

He further said that the present time demands saving of the Constitution and Rahul Gandhi has started a movement to save the Constitution.
